The challenge
The site of a former flour mill, Dunaskin Street had very complex boundary conditions; the River Kelvin, a university storage facility, an adopted road and a flatted residential development.
Our solution
We defined a series of both temporary and permanent embedded retention solutions around the site perimeter, designed to facilitate construction from within the site only. This absolutely maximised the developable area, whilst protecting the integrity of all adjoining properties. We used a cluster of five distinct building blocks; each extending to nine storeys and a reinforced concrete flat slab solution.
